So I'm really doing this...

Updated: Jan 8, 2021

The last 9 months have flown by since I made the decision to quit my job and move into freelance. I've busied myself with preparing for business ownership, getting used to the idea of being self-sufficient, continuing to develop my value proposition and stifling the panic of what if things don't work out.

I've been courted by ex-colleagues and other training companies and allowed my head to be turned momentarily a couple of times. However, each time I've circled back to 'what is it that I really and truly want to do passionately' and more importantly, 'why?'

Remember your 'why' when you can't see the wood for the trees

Anyone who has read Simon Sinek's book 'Start With Why' will appreciate where I am coming from. Often we focus so much on the 'what' and 'how' that we lose sight of the 'why'. I needed to remind myself of my 'why':

1. Make a difference

2. Do something that I love all of time instead of some of the time

3. Help others to realise their greater potential through the power of coaching

This helped me to keep focused on my true passion and reminded me that I can achieve anything I set out to do, and I want to help others to do this too. I only have to look back at past achievements (personal and professional) to recognise the pattern - there has always been a true purpose to my end goals at each significant point in my life, aligned with my core values and as part of my continuing growth mindset.

Here's to the next exciting chapter in my life...
